Community

CITC engages in numerous community projects.  These include sporting, cultural, educational and environmental activities.

Cultural Events

Getting involved in cultural events comes naturally to CITC.  We are the country’s biggest employer outside of government; our management and staff are predominantly Cook Islanders and our culture is a big part of our lives, whether corporate or private.

Tourism Awards

Tourism receipts make up the largest part of the country's income and encouraging excellence in the tourism industry is an important way to ensure we offer the best services and experiences possible to our visitors.

Junior Drumming

Cook Islands Drumming is one of the iconic parts of our culture. To maintain a constant supply of senior drummers we need to foster young people to become drummers to uphold our vibrant and unique drum beats. Therefore, we support Junior Tangi Ka'ara Drumming Competition.

Tropical Christmas

Christmas is a special time of the year and in Europe and other places it happens in the winter, but here in the Cook Islands every Christmas is Tropical.

Miss Cook Islands

Miss Cook Islands is more than just a beauty contest, it is an opportunity for our young women to build confidence and poise to face and take on the world and that is why we are happy to support them and this event; and to take our culture to the world.

Te Maeva Nui Festival

temaevanui
This is our country's annual festival to celebrate our coming of age politically, attaining self-government in free association with New Zealand. It is aso when our different sister islands and village dance groups in a riot of colour, song and dance showcase our culture to our visitors, ourselves and through the wonders of the internet - to an international audience - and we are happy supporters.

BSP Giving Tree

The Giving Tree is an opportunity for people to bring a little joy to people - in particular children - who might otherwise not receive any gifts at Christmas and once again, we are happy supporters.

Sporting Events

Pump Junior Tennis

Healthy bodies and healthy minds is what all countries want for their children and we believe by supporting Junior tennis we are helping in that regard in the Cook Islands. From Junior tennis many of our young people have gone on to successfully compete with their peers overseas.

Badminton Championship

While not one of the country's major sports, badminton has an enthusiastic following with a growing membership every year.

Netball Championships

Many very good Cook Island netballers have gone on to represent both this country and New Zealand, and that is due to a certain extent by the "Rising Stars" championship which nurtures up and coming young players.

Primary School Sports

There can be no better investment in the health of the nation than in primary school sports. This one day event brings together all primary schools on the island competing to be the best in athletics.

Vaka Eiva

Paddling and vaka are embedded in Cook Islands culture so in keeping with our corporate will to support our culture, we support Vaka Eiva.

International Sevens

raro rugby 7s
The Rarotonga Sevens is growing in popularity and we are happy to support this event that brings together locals, Cook Islanders living abroad and tourists through a fun and competitive competition.

Environmental Projects

Rotary Bin Project

Cook Islanders take pride in keeping their properties clean and tidy and the Rotary Bin project is a projection of that in our public areas which we are happy to support.

Clean up the World

We are proud to support this initiative in the Cook Islands and have our staff participate in "cleaning up" our island of Rarotonga every year.

Go Green Night Market

We support the need to protect our environment and to use sustainable products and practices.

Health and Education

Anchor Creative Arts

This initiative is a good way to draw attention to the need to recycle and to reuse, it also assists in bringing out the creativeness in our youngsters.

Breast Cancer month

Great progress has been made in recent years to raise awareness about breast cancer and to carry out breast cancer checks with our women in the at-risk age group, and we have been happy to help support these initiatives when we can.

Men's Health month

As with Breast cancer initiatives we are happy to support initiatives to raise awareness of early detection of prostate cancer in our men folk.
